Dive La Jolla's kelp forests, rocky reefs, and seasonal leopard shark gatherings with a private guide who knows every entry point, current, and canyon edge. Whether you're earning your first certification or exploring as a visiting diver, every session is tailored one-on-one to your pace and goals.
Scuba With Justin runs private shore-based scuba experiences from La Jolla Shores and La Jolla Cove in San Diego. All guided dives and certification courses are conducted one-on-one or in small private groups, with site selection made daily based on real-time conditions at these two Southern California shore diving staples. The operator publishes a live dive report updated every 30 minutes, drawing on swell, tide, wind, and rain data to help divers and guests gauge conditions before they arrive. For certified divers, guided tours cover La Jolla Shores' sandy-entry reef and canyon edges — known for seasonal leopard shark gatherings from June through September — and La Jolla Cove's protected eco-reserve, with its rocky reef, kelp forests, garibaldi, sea lions, bat rays, octopus, and giant sea bass. Guided dives are available as 1-tank or 2-tank shore dives, with a private night dive option as well. The operator also offers a seasonal Leopard Shark Dive experience and a private snorkel tour at La Jolla Cove for non-divers and families. On the training side, Justin holds PADI Elite Instructor status with more than 20 years of teaching experience in San Diego. Offerings include private PADI Open Water certification (pool confined water plus ocean dives at La Jolla Shores), Discover Scuba introductory experiences for uncertified guests ages 10 and up, a PADI Refresher/ReActivate course, a Scuba Travel Prep session for certified divers heading abroad, and a family Open Water package. Full scuba gear rental packages are available through the shop for divers who need equipment.
