Dive In Scuba
From sea lion encounters at La Jolla Cove to canyon walls plunging past 100 feet, every dive with Dive In Scuba is a professionally guided journey through one of Southern California's richest coastal marine reserves.
Operating out of Ellen Browning Scripps Park in La Jolla since 2019, Dive In Scuba leads guided shore dives across San Diego's most celebrated underwater sites — La Jolla Cove, La Jolla Shores, and the La Jolla Canyon, which reaches depths of 130 feet. Tours run in small groups with an experienced local instructor, covering kelp forests, rocky reefs, and wreck dives along the Southern California coast. Every trip starts with a detailed site briefing on dive plan, entry and exit points, expected marine life, and safety procedures; all gear including wetsuits, tanks, fins, and regulators is provided, with GoPro cameras and torches available as add-ons. The operation is led by instructor Julian, who has been certifying divers since 2008 and holds credentials as a PADI IDC Staff Instructor, SSI Assistant Instructor Trainer, and TDI Technical Dive Instructor — with over 600 certifications logged across seven countries. Guided tours are specifically designed for certified divers and emphasize personal attention and comfort in La Jolla's temperate, occasionally surgy Pacific waters. Typical wildlife encounters include California sea lions, garibaldi, leopard sharks, tope sharks, nudibranchs, horn sharks, octopuses, lobsters, and schools of rockfish. Certification courses are available at Open Water, Advanced, and Rescue Diver levels through PADI, SSI, or RAID, offered in private or semi-private formats to accommodate varied schedules and learning paces. Specialty programs include deep diver and self-reliant diver courses. Online booking is handled through FareHarbor with real-time availability for both guided dives and courses seven days a week.
