San Diego Scuba Pros
Explore the kelp-fringed waters of La Jolla Cove with a certified guide, where California sea lions, harbor seals, and horn sharks share the reef — or chase spiny lobsters before dawn during the seasonal hunt.
San Diego Scuba Pros operates guided dive tours and snorkeling excursions out of various locations in San Diego, California, with La Jolla Cove Ecological Reserve as a primary site. Shore dives run daily from 7 a.m. to approximately 11 a.m., catering to novice through experienced divers at depths of 20 to 40 feet where the majority of aquatic life — including California sea lions, harbor seals, Garibaldi, and horn sharks — is found. Deeper dives reaching 60 to 130 feet are available by appointment for more experienced divers. Seasonal spiny lobster diving tours run from late September through late March, departing roughly two hours before dawn when lobsters are actively feeding. All trips include a certified guide and full scuba gear at no extra charge, and groups are kept small — up to four divers for lobster tours and up to six for boat excursions. Boat dive tours, which visit wrecks and secret coves off the San Diego coast, are currently paused pending availability. Beyond guided tours, the operator offers a full suite of PADI training from Discover Scuba Diving and Open Water through Divemaster, as well as specialty courses including Deep Diver, Underwater Navigator, Search and Recovery, Night Diver, Underwater Naturalist, and Enriched Air (Nitrox).
