Scuba San Diego
Drift through San Diego's famous La Jolla Cove kelp forest in search of Giant Black Sea Bass and Seven Gill Sharks, or join a boat charter out to Wreck Alley's HMCS Yukon — Scuba San Diego has been making these adventures happen since 1968.
Scuba San Diego, Inc. has been running guided dive and snorkel tours in the San Diego area since 1968. Operating primarily from the renowned La Jolla Cove Ecological Reserve, the company's expert guides lead certified divers through world-class kelp forest environments, sea caverns including the famous "Sunny Jim's Cave" and "Clamshell Cavern," and deeper canyon dives. Shore dives depart at 7:00 a.m. and reach depths of up to 45 feet at the kelp forest, while La Jolla Canyon dives descend to 60–80 feet. Beyond La Jolla Cove, Scuba San Diego offers boat dives to Wreck Alley (featuring the HMCS Yukon) and the Coronado Islands. Night dives are available at Mission Point for beginners and at La Jolla Canyon for more experienced cold-water night divers, with encounters including squid runs, California bat rays, two-ringed octopus, lobsters, and nudibranchs — plus the possibility of bioluminescence. All guided shore dives include weight belt, weights, and cylinders. The operation also runs private snorkel tours of La Jolla Cove for families, groups, and corporate teams, with optional video download available on weekends. Marine life highlights across the site include California sea lions, Giant Black Sea Bass, Tope Sharks, Seven Gill Sharks (in April), and the sea life of the La Jolla Cove Ecological Reserve, which has protected the underwater environment for over 73 years.
