Benthic Ocean Sports

Skip the crowds and dive the Gulf's limestone reefs or the Underwater Museum of Art on a private 30-foot Contender Center Console out of Destin.

Benthic Ocean Sports operates from Destin, Florida, running private small-group trips aboard a 30' Contender Center Console. The operation focuses on freediving and spearfishing in the Northern Gulf of Mexico, targeting artificial reefs, limestone bottoms, and live bottom where depths start at 60 feet with visibility ranging from 20-100 feet depending on the season. The shop is described as the first and only freedive-specific spearfishing store on the Florida Panhandle, stocking brands like Ermes, Salvimar, Riffe, and C4. It also offers Level 1 Freediver courses through the FII education system, which include classroom instruction at their Destin location followed by pool sessions at Emerald Coast Scuba and open water dives. Trips are structured as private charters for up to six passengers, with options ranging from a three-to-four-hour snorkel tour over artificial reefs to four-, six-, or eight-hour spearfishing excursions. A dedicated freediving trip is also available to the Underwater Museum of Art at 58 feet.
