Operating from Cannery Row in Monterey, California, Bay Area Freediving brings structured freediving education and guided underwater exploration to one of the most rewarding dive environments on the US West Coast. Founded by Rebekah Phillips, the school is committed to developing the freediving community across Monterey and the broader Bay Area, offering everything from introductory half-day experiences to advanced certification courses targeting depths of 24–30 metres. The curriculum is structured across multiple levels. The foundational course covers core freediving fundamentals and prepares students to reach 12–20 metres in open water, while the advanced programme builds the skills and knowledge needed to dive comfortably to 24–30 metres. A non-certifiable Discover Freediving experience is also on offer for newcomers with no prior background, providing a low-commitment entry point into the sport. All courses have associated prerequisites, and the school is affiliated with two internationally recognised freediving agencies. Beyond formal instruction, Bay Area Freediving provides tailored one-on-one coaching and local guided tours for freedivers looking to explore Monterey's waters with an experienced guide.
