SoCo Scuba is a private scuba instruction service based in Austin, Texas, led by Seth Doty, Ph.D., a licensed dive instructor since 2016 and owner of both SoCo Scuba (Austin) and MoCo Scuba (Houston). Currently offering dive training and experiences exclusively in the Austin area on a first-come, first-served appointment basis, the school operates in small private groups at Texas spring sites including Spring Lake in San Marcos, as well as international locations such as St. Maarten. The school explicitly does not sell or rent gear or fill tanks; all equipment is provided at no extra cost during certification dives. Courses span the full certification pathway: the foundational Open Water/Scuba Diver class introduces equipment, diving sciences, and safe practices before moving to open-water training dives; the Advanced Scuba Diver course requires a minimum of six open-water dives — including navigation, night or low-visibility diving, and deep diving to a maximum depth of 130 feet/40 meters — plus three additional specialty dives. Master Scuba Diver training adds at least eight open-water dives covering emergency procedures, rescue, deep/simulated decompression, limited-visibility or night diving, and underwater navigation. Dive trips can also be booked separately by texting or calling 737-931-7456. Open water certification cards are internationally accepted, never expire, and are issued both electronically and by mail within 5–7 business days of course completion.
