Tom's Dive & Swim
For over four decades, Tom's Dive & Swim has been the heartbeat of Austin's diving community — building confident divers in a 91°F heated pool and sending them to the reefs of Bonaire, Dominica, and Fiji.
Tom's Dive & Swim has operated out of 5909 Burnet Rd in Austin, Texas since 1982, making it the city's longest-running dive center still in operation. Training takes place in a 91°F indoor heated pool, with open-water checkout dives at Lake Travis and Spring Lake. The shop is an SSI Dive Center with more than 30 active SSI-certified instructors and has certified over 5,000 Texas divers in its four-plus decades of business. The course catalog spans the full SSI pathway — from a $85 Try Scuba introduction and $619 Open Water certification through continuing education, specialty programs, and technical (XR) diving including configurations for single backmount, double tanks, sidemount, and rebreathers. The shop also runs a local fun-dive series called Bubble Hour at Mansfield Dam Park on Lake Travis to keep certified divers active in the water between trips. Beyond local diving, Tom's organizes group travel to destinations including Bonaire, Dominica, Cozumel, Fiji, and Grand Cayman, led by Tom's travel leaders alongside fellow Austin Aquanauts club members. The retail side carries and services equipment, and the connected Austin Aquanauts dive club is free to join for divers actively training with the shop.
