From Wilmington's coast out to Wrightsville Beach, Carolina Beach, Topsail, Bald Head Island, and Oak Island, Aquatic Adventures NC provides private swim instruction and scuba certification programs under Clinton Donald, a coach with over 21 years of competitive swim coaching experience in Tennessee and North Carolina. Clinton previously coached at the YWCA and UNCW and competed in Half Iron Man events for three years before focusing full-time on private instruction and building his own business. Clinton holds multiple scuba certifications up to Scuba Instructor, and is also Red Cross-certified in First Aid, CPR, and Lifeguard Training. Scuba certification courses cover essential dive theory, diving equipment, dive planning and execution, and safety procedures. The program's open-water component takes swimmers into real coastal conditions — teaching how to handle currents, tides, and waves alongside core stroke technique. Private swim lessons are structured as six one-hour sessions for all ages, from infants to adults. Children 2.5 and under participate with a parent in the water, while older children learn all four strokes, treading water, snorkeling, floating, and open-water survival skills. Pricing starts at $585 for six classes for children above 2.5, and $685 for the youngest age group. Parents completing the youngest-swimmer package also gain the skills to continue teaching their children at home.
