Sea Dwellers Dive Center
With over 50 years on the water and a signature 65-minute bottom time at each site, Sea Dwellers puts you in the water longer at Molasses Reef and the Christ of the Abyss than almost anywhere else in the Keys.
Sea Dwellers Dive Center has been running daily dive and snorkel charters out of Key Largo since 1974, making it one of the longest-operating family-owned operations in the Florida Keys. The shop runs two purpose-built 50-foot dive boats — the Sea Dweller and the Ocean Dweller — to sites within the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary, including the iconic Christ of the Abyss statue (resting in about 25 feet of water at Grecian Rocks), the high-visibility coral ridges of Molasses Reef, and a rotating roster of shipwreck locations. A standout feature is the 65-minute "pool open" time at each of the two sites per trip, giving divers significantly more bottom time than typical half-day charters. The center offers morning and afternoon departures daily, each featuring two tank dives for certified divers or two reef stops for snorkelers. Dive guides are available for hire in 6:1 ratios rather than being included by default, a deliberate policy to avoid "cattle dive" dynamics and keep groups intimate. Every trip includes tanks and weights for scuba participants and a full snorkel kit (mask, fins, snorkel, safety vest) for surface explorers. Onboard amenities include complimentary ice water, reef-safe sunscreen, and post-dive cookies. Beyond day trips, Sea Dwellers maintains a full training curriculum — from introductory Discover Scuba experiences and PADI Open Water certifications to Advanced Open Water, Rescue Diver, and a comprehensive menu of specialty courses. Private charters accommodating up to 28 passengers are available for dive clubs, families, and special events, rounding out an operation that serves first-time snorkelers and experienced technical divers alike.
