Sitting at mile marker 103 on US-1, Pirates Cove Watersports launches twice daily from the Reefhouse Resort & Marina in Key Largo, Florida, with a morning boat departing at 9:00 AM and an afternoon boat at 1:30 PM. Each trip runs approximately 3.5 hours on the water and covers two separate sites within the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary and John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park. Standard two-tank reef dives visit Molasses Reef, French Reef, Elbow Reef, and the iconic Christ of the Abyss bronze sculpture at Dry Rocks — shallow, high-profile spur-and-groove formations at 20–35 feet that host sea turtles, spotted eagle rays, moray eels, and southern stingrays year-round. Advanced Open Water divers can step up to the deep wreck circuit, where trips typically visit the Spiegel Grove or USCG Duane — two of the most celebrated sport dive wrecks on the Atlantic seaboard — paired with a reef site on the second tank. Night dives are scheduled seasonally around sunset, transforming sites like the SS Benwood with bioluminescence. The full dive center carries gear rental from complete scuba packages (BCD, regulator, computer, wetsuit, mask, fins) down to standalone snorkel kits, and a Nitrox upgrade to 32% is available for an additional fee. Beyond scuba, Pirates Cove operates as Key Largo's one-stop watersports hub, offering snorkeling excursions, mangrove snorkel tours, parasailing, jet ski and waverunner rentals, paddleboarding, kayaking, fishing charters, dolphin swims, eco tours, and sunset cruises — all departing from the same marina. Dive instruction runs from Open Water certification through the Instructor Development Course.
