H2O Below
Dive one of the top-ten wreck dives in the world — the 911-foot aircraft carrier USS Oriskany, the world's largest artificial reef — just 24 miles southeast of Pensacola aboard the H2O Below.
H2O Below operates a 36-foot Newton custom dive boat out of Pensacola, Florida, running recreational and technical scuba diving charters seven days a week throughout the year. The boat is certified to carry 24 divers but trips are intentionally limited to 16 recreational divers or 10 technical divers for comfort. The vessel runs at an average of 20 knots, putting the USS Oriskany — 24 miles southeast of Pensacola — roughly 60–90 minutes from the dock. The boat is equipped with dry storage, freshwater showers, a fully enclosed head, a large camera and equipment table, large coolers, and custom tank racks for cylinders, doubles, and rebreathers. The operation's signature trip is the USS Oriskany, the 911-foot aircraft carrier intentionally sunk on May 17, 2006, as the world's largest artificial reef. Recreational divers can explore the island superstructure starting at 84 feet, while technical divers can reach the flight deck at 145 feet and beyond to 220 feet. Beyond the Oriskany, the charter visits dozens of inshore, midshore, and offshore sites including historic battleships, WWII-era wrecks, converted oil rigs, and natural reefs — all part of a rich wreck diving scene across the Florida Panhandle. H2O Below is an official Trail Partner of the Florida Panhandle Shipwreck Trail. Technical divers running decompression dives, doubles, sidemounts, or rebreathers are fully accommodated with dedicated tank racks and equipment wash racks on deck. Captained by owner Captain Douglas, the crew includes experienced divemasters and is regularly inspected for safety by the U.S. Coast Guard, carrying emergency oxygen and an AED on every trip.
