Set in Pompano Beach at the heart of Florida's Gold Coast, Lou Barber's operation puts divers on warm, Gulf Stream-fed water above miles of natural coral reef and a collection of storied shipwrecks. Lou draws on 25 years of service — US Marine Corps, US Army, and two decades with the Baltimore City Sheriff's Department — to run tight, safety-first boat trips that depart for morning, afternoon, and night slots. The Gulf Stream delivers ideal drift conditions along Pompano's reefs and artificial wrecks, turning each dive into a relaxed, current-assisted tour past resident marine life. Underwater, the reefs bustle with soft corals, schools of grunts and angelfish, sea turtles, moray eels, and rays gliding across the sand, with seasonal pelagic sightings when conditions align. The wrecks on offer range from photogenic shallow structures to deeper, more advanced profiles, each with distinct routes, relief, and its own colony of permanent residents.
