Tarpoon Lagoon Dive Center, established in 1952, is Miami's oldest family-owned dive operation, based in Hialeah with regular access to the barrier reef tract running along Florida's southeast coastline. Boat trips head out to these reefs where warm, clear water and abundant marine life await at moderate depths. Decades of local experience give the shop unmatched familiarity with the conditions and dive sites that define South Florida diving. The center delivers a full spectrum of dive courses — from introductory Discover Scuba Diving experiences and Open Water certification through Advanced Open Water, Rescue Diver, Enriched Air Nitrox, specialty programs, and professional Divemaster training. Their Discover Scuba Diving program is particularly well suited to vacationers and curious beginners: it kicks off with a pool orientation in the morning and finishes with two guided ocean dives on the reef. Beyond instruction and boat trips, Tarpoon Lagoon functions as a full-service dive facility. The shop fills tanks and services BCDs, regulators, and cylinders in-house, stocks and fits gear from brands including Halcyon, Shearwater, and Garmin, and operates an online store.
