Sink or Swim Scuba operates out of 4310K Wilkinson Blvd in Gastonia, NC, within convenient reach of Charlotte, Belmont, Lake Wylie, and surrounding communities. With over 28 years of real-world diving and rescue experience, the center runs SDI Open Water certification through a structured three-phase format — eLearning completed at home, confined water pool sessions at the facility, and four open water checkout dives at approved nearby sites. Small class sizes keep instruction personalized, and training gear provided includes regulators, dive computers, wetsuits, and BCs. Beyond recreational certification, Sink or Swim Scuba is a dedicated resource for public safety diving, supporting fire departments, law enforcement agencies, and EMS teams across North Carolina, South Carolina, and the East Coast. As an authorized ERDI training center and Interspiro distributor, the shop delivers structured public safety diver pathways from SDI Open Water through ERDI Level 1 and Level 2. It also maintains an extensive demo fleet of full face masks, OTS communications systems, surface supply equipment, and Kirby Morgan helmets available for supervised team evaluation. The shop holds Gold Level Dealer status with Ocean Technology Systems and can deploy a 20-foot enclosed mobile dive command trailer for on-site training and operational support. Bookable community dive trips include night dives at local dive sites, giving certified divers in the region a regular opportunity to get in the water. Rental equipment — BCDs, regulators, cylinders, weights, and exposure protection — is available for both recreational and public safety divers.
