Dive the volcanic House Reef just steps from our Caniçal base, exploring a vibrant Atlantic ecosystem teeming with groupers and sea turtles.
Scorpio Madeira is a diving center located in Caniçal on the island of Madeira. The facility features direct access to the Atlantic Ocean and a private pier for water entry. Its primary dive site, known as the House Reef, is situated just 50 meters from the dive center, making it highly accessible for both beginners and experienced divers. The underwater environment at the House Reef consists of volcanic rock formations that support diverse marine life. Divers can encounter schools of pelagic predators, parrotfish grazing on rocks, sardines moving in clouds, as well as wrasse, damselfish, bream, trumpetfish, groupers (Serranus atricauda), short-snout seahorses, octopuses, ornate wrasses (Thalassoma pavo), and sea turtles. The center offers a range of activities including scuba diving for certified divers via boat or shore entry, introductory 'Try Scuba' experiences, freediving sessions from the shore, and snorkeling trips by both boat and shore. The team includes instructors such as Victor, Alex, Luciano, and Andrés who provide guidance in multiple languages. The center is equipped with free parking, hot showers, and provides full scuba or specific freediving equipment for its activities.
