Dive the legendary channels of Kicker Rock or explore the Galápagos' only shipwreck with a local operator on San Cristobal Island.
Planet Ocean Galapagos operates out of San Cristobal Island in the Ecuadorian archipelago, running daily boat-based excursions to some of the region's most famous underwater landmarks and coastal sites. The operator maintains a dedicated fleet that includes an instruction vessel for courses as well as separate boats for daily tours and island-hopping trips. The dive program centers on Kicker Rock (León Dormido), where divers navigate narrow channels down to 30 meters in search of hammerhead sharks, Galapagos sharks, and giant sea turtles. Local options include the only known shipwreck in the archipelago located directly in Puerto Baquerizo Moreno's port, as well as beginner-friendly bays like Darwin Bay (Frigate Hill) where shallow depths start at just 4 meters. More technical pursuits are available through a cave dive site that descends to 33 meters and night dives restricted to safe, sheltered locations. Beyond scuba diving, the business offers comprehensive PADI certification courses ranging from introductory Discover Scuba experiences up to Rescue Diver level. Non-diving guests can join daily land-and-sea tours covering Lobos Island's sea lion colonies, Española Island's waved albatrosses, and a 360-degree circumnavigation of San Cristobal that includes snorkeling stops at remote bays.
