Miss Judy Charters
From gangster-era roots to three generations of anglers, Miss Judy Charters has been chasing fish in the coastal waters of Savannah and Tybee Island for over 75 years.
Miss Judy Charters operates inshore and offshore fishing charters out of Savannah, Georgia, with roots stretching back to 1948 when Captain Sherman Helmey converted his boat into the area's first professional fishing charter service. Now led by his daughter, Captain Judy Helmey, who has been chartering trips for over forty years, the company is currently welcoming its third generation of anglers — many of them children and grandchildren of the customers Captain Helmey first took out decades ago. The operation fields a state-of-the-art fleet and a team of eleven captains — including Captain Kathy Brown, Captain Matt Williams, Captain Kevin Rose, Captain Justin Rahn, Captain Jim Price, Captain Jake Ross, Captain Robert Brown, Captain Phil Ross, and Captain Ross Corbett — covering both inshore and offshore waters around Savannah and Tybee Island. Trips are fully customized to individual or group needs, and conventions and large groups are specifically welcomed. Reservations are handled directly by phone at (912) 897-4921 or by email, with the office promising quick replies outside of 11 PM–4 AM. A customary tip of at least 20% for the captain and fish-cleaning fees are charged in addition to the charter price.
