Mammoth Lake Texas
Dive into one of Texas' premier freshwater destinations — a 65-acre lake with 150+ underwater attractions, purpose-built training docks, and depths reaching 70 feet. Whether you're logging dives, completing certifications, or exploring paddlefish territory, Mammoth Lake has room for your next adventure.
Mammoth Lake Texas sits on a naturally occurring aquifer-fed 65-acre freshwater lake near Lake Jackson, Texas — originally a sand pit that has been transformed into a purpose-built scuba diving park. The lake features 150+ underwater attractions, 12 SCUBA training docks, and depths ranging from a shallow 20-foot average near attractions to a deep hole of 65–70 feet, making it suitable for recreational, technical, and public safety diving. Visibility varies from 5 to 35 feet depending on conditions and season, and the lake is home to a variety of aquatic wildlife including fish, turtles, and American Paddlefish reaching up to 7 feet in length. All certified divers (minimum Open Water) are welcome to dive by reservation through a purchased day pass. The facility supports air, 32% Nitrox, 100% Oxygen, and blended CCR gas fills on-site, along with equipment rentals, cylinder visual inspections, and hydrostatic testing coordination. On-site save-a-dive repair support and service for select Dive Rite and OTS equipment is also available. Rather than offering its own certification courses directly, Mammoth Lake Texas operates an Open Water Partner Program, connecting students with a network of trusted regional dive shops — including shops in Corpus Christi, Katy, Houston, and Sugar Land — who then use the lake as their open water checkout dive environment. The Mammoth Dive Academy also offers pathways for advanced, specialty, rescue, technical, and professional-level training, as well as international dive travel partnerships.
