Lake Travis Scuba is based in Leander, Texas, running boat charters to dive sites across Lake Travis aboard Giant Stride, a 30-foot pontoon boat customized for scuba diving with 8 diver stations, dual tank holders, dry storage, a canvas enclosure, and a heavy-duty ladder for water entry and exit. Operator Robert Weiss has been running charters since 2007, filling a gap in local diving by providing access to sites unreachable from shore. The boat is equipped with full safety gear including emergency oxygen, an AED, first aid kit, DAN DIDS, and life-saving floats, and is a member of the Flagship Towing Boat emergency service. Dive sites include Starnes Island (also called Rattlesnake Island) with a wall dive to depths beyond 100 feet and five explorable boat hulls; Fiesta Haus Wall, suited for deep diving with a mooring line and large grotto; Oasis Wall beneath the Oasis Restaurant featuring stalactites and grottos; Wreck Alley with houseboats, sailboats, cars, and a riverbed wall; and several other walls and natural formations. These sites support recreational, technical, and training diving for all skill levels. Instruction is available from a PADI Instructor, covering courses from PADI Open Water Certification through specialty and technical courses such as deep, wreck, navigation, search & recovery, and peak performance buoyancy. A Divemaster accompanies every charter to guide divers and assist topside. Air tank rentals (AL80 cylinders) and scuba gear rentals are available for an additional fee with advance booking.
