Key Dives
From the vibrant shallow reefs at 25 feet to the legendary Eagle Wreck at 110 feet, every dive with Key Dives in Islamorada puts you above some of the most biodiverse coral ecosystems in North America — and 2% of every trip goes straight back to restoring them.
Key Dives operates out of Islamorada in the Upper Florida Keys, running daily scuba and snorkeling charters aboard The Giant Stride, a 42-foot Newton vessel with capacity for up to 25 divers. Morning trips depart at 7:45 AM and reach outer reef sites — including Crocker Reef, Alligator Reef, Davis Reef, and Hens & Chickens — in about 25 minutes from the dock, exploring spur-and-groove formations from 34 to 90 feet. Afternoon shallow reef trips work depths of 15–35 feet, and Friday mornings are reserved for the Eagle Wreck, a 287-foot freighter sitting upright in approximately 110 feet of water off Islamorada that is blanketed in coral, sponges, and schools of barracuda and grouper. Beyond the standard dive calendar, Key Dives partners with the I.CARE coral restoration program to offer hands-on outplanting dives, sponge outplanting trips, and reef cleanup charters tied to the Goal: Clean Seas initiative. A divemaster guide is included on every trip at a 1:6 ratio, along with tanks, weights, fresh fruit, freshwater showers, and an ice cooler. The shop also carries a full fleet of Mares rental gear — maintained under 12 months old — and offers gear storage overnight, gift cards, and a dive-gear purchase program that bundles free dive trips with equipment purchases. The training program covers the full PADI ladder from Discover Scuba and Open Water through Advanced Open Water, Rescue Diver, Divemaster, and SSI Instructor, with small class sizes capped at a 4:1 student-to-instructor ratio. Private full-day and half-day charters aboard The Giant Stride are also available for groups wanting customized itineraries across any combination of reefs, wrecks, photography, snorkeling, and night diving.
