Hero Scuba Group
Hero Scuba Group channels the healing power of the ocean to support Veterans and First Responders battling PTSD and anxiety — turning scuba diving into both therapy and community.
Hero Scuba Group is a veteran-formed 501(c)(3) non-profit based in San Antonio, Texas, built around the belief that scuba diving can reduce or eliminate the side effects of PTSD, anxiety, trauma, and injuries suffered by Veterans, First Responders, and their families. The organization's certified NAUI instructors and Divemasters bring years of experience across multiple diving specialties, training members to safely explore the underwater world under NAUI's guiding principle: "Dive safety through education." Beyond certification training, the group organizes conservation outings in local Texas lakes and rivers, working alongside alumni, staff, board members, and community volunteers to preserve aquatic environments for future generations. The community extends well beyond the water, hosting camping trips, hunting outings, and barbecues so that Veterans, First Responders, and family members can connect in a welcoming environment that honors their service. The organization also runs annual destination dive trips — including a dive trip to San Pedro, Belize — and operates an online store offering gear rentals, wetsuit rentals, air fills, and HSG-branded merchandise to support its members and mission.
