Gulfport Dive Center
Dive the Gulf of Mexico's shipwrecks and ancient river beds alongside goliath groupers, eagle rays, and sea turtles — one of the few St. Petersburg dive shops with its own scuba-fitted boat.
Gulfport Dive Center operates out of the St. Petersburg area and is one of the few local dive shops with its own boat purpose-fitted for scuba diving. Their standard weekly charter heads roughly 10 miles out into the Gulf of Mexico, diving wrecks and natural reef ledges at approximately 45–50 feet of depth. Possible wildlife encounters include goliath groupers, rays, eels, sea turtles, sharks, octopus, and diverse reef fish. In addition to their regular 2-tank reef charters ($130, tanks and weights included), the shop runs less frequent deep charters offering a broader range of wildlife, bookable by phone. They also organize international dive travel for those looking to explore beyond Florida waters. On the training side, the shop offers SSI Open Water certification classes capped at six students, running twice a month over two weekends — with pool and classroom sessions at the dive center, and open-water certification dives at sites including Lake Denton, Rainbow River, and Devil's Den. The center is the official training site for Eckerd College and also handles classes and trips for Canterbury School of Florida.
