Carolina Dive Center
From shallow tugboats teeming with grouper and barracuda to deep offshore wrecks requiring Nitrox, Carolina Dive Center brings over 20 years of coastal wreck diving expertise to the Carolina coast.
Carolina Dive Center has been running dive charters along the North and South Carolina coast for over 20 years, departing from marinas in Calabash and Wilmington, NC. Charter trips visit a range of named wrecks at varying experience levels — from shallower "Less Experienced" sites like the Charleston Tug (62 feet, superstructure at 30 feet) and the Hyde to deeper intermediate and experienced sites including the U-352, J.D. Gill, Cassimir, and others requiring Advanced Open Water, Nitrox, and in some cases deep/wreck specialties. Charters run as 2-tank dives and are tiered by experience: Less Experienced (LE) open-water certified divers with fewer than 10 Carolina coast boat dives can join LE-designated trips, while Intermediate trips require Advanced Open Water or Deep specialty plus Nitrox, and Experienced trips demand additional certifications and a deeper logged-dive history. Prices range from $115 for LE trips up to $210 for offshore intermediate charters. Beyond charters, Carolina Dive Center offers a full curriculum of PADI courses from Open Water through technical diving (Tec40, Tec45, Tec50), specialty classes, and continuing education programs including Nitrox and deep diver. The shop also organizes dive vacations to international destinations, rents and services scuba gear, and hosts recurring events like Free Air Tanks Fridays at Fantasy Lake Scuba Park.
