Set on the barrier island of Grand Isle where the Mississippi River meets the Gulf of Mexico, Fin-Tastic Charters puts you on speckled trout, redfish, and snapper with a captain who has navigated these Louisiana marshes and bays for over 30 years.
Captain John's Fin-Tastic Charters operates inshore and coastal fishing trips out of Grand Isle, Louisiana — a barrier island offering direct access to productive marshes, bays, passes, and nearshore Gulf waters. Captain John Chauvin has been guiding fishing charters in the Grand Isle area for over 30 years, developing deep familiarity with the region's unique geography where freshwater from the Mississippi River creates nutrient-rich estuaries supporting more than 280 species of fish. The charter welcomes anglers of all skill levels and ages, offering customized trips for groups of up to six per boat, with multiple boats available for larger parties such as bachelor parties, office outings, or family gatherings. Trip offerings include standard inshore fishing targeting redfish and speckled trout in shallow marshes and bays, dedicated snapper trips to nearshore structure, and a trout/snapper combo outing. Morning and afternoon trips are both available at the same rates. All charters include rods, reels, tackle, artificial bait, live bait when available, ice, drinking water, and bagging of fish fillets. Anglers are responsible for their own Louisiana saltwater fishing license, and an optional lunch/drink package can be added for an additional fee. Fishing is available year-round, with prime seasons shifting by species: speckled trout and redfish are consistent across all seasons, flounder is most active in cooler months, and cobia and snapper are best targeted in summer and fall. Captain John tailors each trip to the group's goals, making the experience equally suited to seasoned anglers chasing trophy bull reds and families looking for a relaxed day on the water.
