Bayou Charters has operated from Hopedale, Louisiana along historic Bayou La Loutre since 1991, establishing itself as the oldest and most popular full-time fishing guide booking service in the area. The operation is led by Capt. Charlie Thomason, a professional angler who has competed in and won national inshore tournaments and appeared on networks including ESPN, Discovery Channel, National Geographic, and Fox Sports. Fishing trips depart from 24–26 foot bay boats powered by 225–300hp four-stroke outboard motors. The fleet can accommodate groups via up to 6 boats, with a maximum of 4 anglers per boat. All trips include live and artificial baits, rods and reels, tackle, gas, ice, and fish cleaning and packaging at the end of the day. Target species and fishing grounds include Louisiana's flats, reefs, wrecks, and shallow ponds for redfish and trout. Guests can also stay at the Silver Side or Lagniappe Lodges, which overlook the vast Louisiana marsh and accommodate up to 24 people. Local meals including seafood boils, jambalaya, and red beans and rice are available on request, making Bayou Charters a full-package destination for corporate retreats and fishing groups alike.
