California Shark Diving

Get face-to-face with mako, blue, hammerhead, and great white sharks in the open Pacific — no experience or scuba certification required. California Shark Diving brings guests of all levels into the water or aboard the boat for a full-day encounter with some of the apex predators of the West Coast.

California Shark Diving operates daily shark trips out of Long Beach's South Shore Launch Ramp, venturing well beyond 3 miles offshore into the deep waters of the Pacific Ocean. The operation is led by Captain Bryce Rohrer, a professional shark guide with over a decade of experience and more than 200 days a year on the water. Trips target blue, mako, and hammerhead sharks as the primary encounters, with the possibility of also seeing great white, six gill, thresher, and leopard sharks. Water visibility averages 40 to 100 feet and water temperatures range from the high 70s to the mid-60s depending on season. Two distinct trip formats are available, with a maximum of 6 guests per trip. The Shark Diving Trip places guests in the water via cage diving or freediving on snorkel equipment — no scuba certification or prior experience required, and all gear is provided in sizes medium through double extra-large. The Shark Viewing Trip offers the same offshore location and marine-life action from the comfort of the boat, making it accessible to those who prefer to stay dry. Both trips can be combined on the same vessel with a mix of divers and viewers. Each trip runs from 9am to 4pm — a total of 7 hours — with the crew willing to stay out longer depending on marine activity and guest preferences.
