Experience the South Carolina Lowcountry's wild beauty on a naturalist-guided boat tour through winding salt marshes and tidal creeks to Capers Island.
Barrier Island Eco Tours operates from the Isle of Palms Marina in Charleston, South Carolina, offering naturalist-guided excursions through the Lowcountry's salt marshes and tidal creeks. The primary destination is Capers Island Heritage Preserve, one of the few remaining undeveloped barrier islands near Charleston, located 15 miles north of the city. The operator utilizes a covered 49-passenger pontoon boat equipped with a restroom and beaching ramp for its scheduled public tours. These trips focus on conservation awareness and wildlife observation, allowing guests to encounter bottlenose dolphins, loggerhead sea turtles, and various bird species while learning about the local ecosystem from knowledgeable guides. In addition to eco-tours, Barrier Island Eco Tours offers inshore fishing charters and private excursions aboard smaller 6-passenger and 16-passenger vessels. The company has been operating for over 25 years and caters to tourists, families, school groups, and individuals seeking a low-impact way to experience the coastal resources of South Carolina.
