ARK LA TEX SCUBA
From a free first breath in 3 feet of water to a full Divemaster rating, Clay Raborn personally guides every student through each step — small groups, flexible scheduling, all gear included.
Based in Springhill, Louisiana, Ark La Tex Scuba is a one-instructor operation run by Clay Raborn, a PADI Master Instructor with over 20 years of diving experience. Serving students across Arkansas, Louisiana, and Texas, the school walks divers through PADI's full recreational pathway — from a no-cost introductory try-scuba lesson to Open Water, Advanced Open Water, Rescue Diver, Master Diver, and Divemaster — with every course including gear, training materials, and Clay's direct personal instruction. Clay brings an unusually deep teaching background to the water: beyond his diving credentials, he holds a B.S.E. from Southern Arkansas University and spent 18 years as the university's scuba instructor. He is also an Aqualung dealer and certified equipment service technician, meaning students can source and service gear at the same location where they train. Specialty courses round out the curriculum with options covering night diving, wreck diving, deep diving (to 40 metres), underwater navigation, peak performance buoyancy, search and recovery, and boat diving. Clay is known among former students for patience and genuine attention to individual needs, and he takes particular pride in teaching families — including his own two daughters and mother — to experience diving together.
